Clothes Rack Barby is the reflection of the function of Barbie, which is designed as a clothes rack, coat hanger. 

The textile we usually use to make make clothes for Barbies are the same type of textile we would use to make our own clothes. However, Barbie’s body is way smaller than ours. As a result, Barbie’s clothes are much thicker for them compare to our clothes for us. In order for Barbie to look normal (to look like us) after been dressed up, Barbie has to have exaggerated body features. 

This explains Barbie’s un-proportionally long neck, tiny waist, long and thin legs. It was designed not to mimic us better (after dress up), not for us to mimic them. 

I collected this clothes rack model from a Barbie accessories factory in Guangdong. The owner of the factory Funa generously gave it to me. Her family has been making Barbie accessories for three generations.
